Amazing hotel deal in NYC at the Hotel on Rivington $125
Thanks to a post in general I saw here by qwovadis, i think, about hotel deals, I signed up at www.jetsetter.com. At the time I didn't see anything too spectacular I was interested in on their website as far as offers go, but just received an email about this hotel for only $125 this summer many dates.
It came in very handy as one of my daughter's friends and I have been bidding on Priceline up to higher than that and got nothing for August.
This hotel was named "best hotel of 2008" by a London travel group.
Just wanted to share!
You need to sign up for their newsletter to get the offer and book through them. On the hotel website it is $244/night.

Looks like it was only through an email I got for "new jetsetters". Here is the link. It says I can share. I tried it and still valid for a few more days. Hope it works for you.

Linca
I live about 15 minutes away. And though the neighborhood has a gritty look, it is a fun area and kids her age will be pleasantly surprised. The one drawback is that the transportation options are limited as compared to midtown.
And as far as safety is concerned, it used to be a dangerous area but has changed dramatically. In fact one of the art schools just built a new dorm a few blocks from their hotel.

Wish I were going! Maybe we could have a drink together or organize a GTG. Would love to meet you.
Still waiting for the "Maitaitom" dates.. do you know if they are still going over in the fall and that GTG semi-organized? I have to make a trip in the Fall and hope to make it coincide.
Re the "kids" ( in their 30's!!). They are so excited. I, as well as my daughter, have been helping them put together some great deals. They will be fine.
Thanks for the reassurance. Much appreciated.

Linca that would be wonderful. And I would happy to spend a day showing you and your "kids" the city. The Spanish have always been gracious and warm to me and I always look to reciprocate. My father-in-law as you probably know from the Spain board, was a Gallego.
