Am supposed to go to New York this weekend....

But am feeling nervous. I realize that airline security is probably at its best right now. But I still can't help but feel shaken and nervous. Any thoughts?

Julie - As a flight attendant, all I can share with you is that there is so much going on "behind the scences" with respect to security that you need to have confidence in the new security that is in place. None of your flight crew would be onboard if they did not feel 100% safe and confident in the security of the aircraft. Please keep flying!

Julie-
I understand your concern, but I think airline security is probably tighter now than it's ever been. I don't know where you live, but if you're really nervous about flying, consider taking the train or the bus. I think you'll be fine flying. If you do go, please hug every cop and firefighter you see there for me, please. Have a good trip! ;->

I really do mean well with this. Don't you think terriorist would be stupid to target Eastern States or Europe? I worry about flights coming up from Latin America. I don't have any experience with Latin American travel. I am just guessing it is a more likely target, possibly Asia? Where are you coming from Julie?

I haven't flown yet but intend to and I have faith that improved security procedures will be effective. I have reservations to fly to Chicago from Newark in October and tentative plans to fly to CA in November. I'm also considering adding a previously unplanned trip to Seattle or New Orleans during this time frame. I will not allow myself to be intimidated by these events and have to believe that all possible preventive measures are being taken. there are risks that we all encounter every time we fly, drive or walk anywhere, some of which cannot be mitigated. On a separate but related note, I was in Manhattan on Tuesday to see two customers and the level of security at their office buildings was incredible. If the measures the airlines have taken are even close to this stringent (I suspect they are even more so), your concerns should be allayed.

Thanks everyone! I'm sure that my flight from Chicago will be fine. But I suppose that for most everyone, the first time flying after the attacks will be a bit stressful. I just keep focusing on seeing my beautiful friend again in NY.

I have already flown in the past week and plan to visit my family in NYC this weekend as well. Don't let these tragedies stop you. Support our airlines and visit those you love.
