Allergies in Kauai?
OK~
I've heard all about the strong sun and mosquitoes, but has anyone ever experienced strong alleries in Kauai? Maybe not, since I never heard about it.....? Just thought I would ask anyway, because although no one talks about it online, when I went to Southern France one May, everyone in our party suffered through unusually strong allergies. Guess we weren't used to the plants down there. We had to go to one of their great pharmacies and get some really strong allergy medication.

I have allergies and never noticed any change in Kauai, Maui, or Oahu. I have had problems with overexposure to the sun, even when wearing sunscreen. On several occasions my chest broke out in a rash and was really itchy anytime I got warm.

I am allergic to mangos and so in hawaii, i have to be careful about covering my lower legs up when doing any serious hiking as the skin of the fruit and theoils in the leaves are irritants. The beautiful trees abound on the hawaiian islands. The people on there seem to be very aware of this allergy and in my experience always knew the answer to my questions about it being in any food i was buying.
Also..i have some strong reactions to the mosquito bites there. They really swell up and give me unmistakable allergy type of response..Not sure if it's because they eat manoges, tho..harhar! ; o ) I have found, however that liberal use of bug repellent and general mosquito precautions, like no fruity lotions and shampoos, keep covered at dawn and dusk and so forth, made it a non-problem.

I've got pretty severe allergies and asthma and didn't have any problems on Kauai (or Maui for that matter). I don't know if it's because the air is cleaner, or perhaps the plant life is so different that it doesn't bother mainlanders.

I have fairly awful allergies and asthma and I've never had any problems in Kaua`i. I am allergic to several sun block lotions too, and have found that the Nuetrogena products work great for me.

ALLERGIES!!!
That must be why I wake up every morning in Kauai with a BIG headache!!!
Yeah....allergies...that's it!!!
All my allegies, aches and pains go away as soon as I step off the plane or even hear the word "Lihue".
In fact, in 201 mo' daysssssss.
AHHHH choooo....excuse me...not a moment too soon!!!
