The only one I can think of is Little Palm Island, but it costs around $1,000 a day. It'd be cheaper to leave the country!

Oops, didn't know you'd be traveling with children. The TA Key West travel board gets this question fairly often, and I don't remember seeing any other options.

Both are very family-friendly

There is a Club Med about an hour north of Palm Beach. A friend recently spent five days there with her 4 children (9, 7, 3, and 1.) I don't think the Sandpiper is on par with the Club Med's in Mexico or Caribbean, but it does have plenty for kids to do with sailing, a circus school, and child-care services.

It is not on the beach, but on the St. Lucie river.

My friend enjoyed it as it fit what she was looking for with two distinct needs for her family. She also plays a lot of tennis so she enjoyed the ability to play often.

The reviews are mostly positive on TripAdvisor. But from what I understand, if you've been to one of the other Club Med's in North America, you might not enjoy SandPiper for what it is by comparison.

Many years ago I visited the Club Med in Port Lucie on the east coast. Was surprised that we had to take a bus to the beach, quite a hike and the accommodations were definitely sub par with other Club Med locations. The main attraction was a camp for circus performers, which the kids really liked. Couldn't recommend it, but it was a long time ago. If you choose this, read recent reviews very carefully.

Aliska, they recently refurbished many parts of that Club Med. But agree, if someone wants to be on the beach, that isn't the best option.
