Alcatraz and Sausalito

We will be headed to San Francisco next week. Someone told my husband we should go to Alcatraz for the morning and then take a ferry from there over to Sausalito for the afternoon. I cannot find any info about ferries directly from Alcatraz to Sausalito. Can anyone help? Any tips about visiting Alcatraz? Any suggestions for Sausalito? Thanks in advance.

There are no ferries from Alcatraz to Sausalito. You will have to return to SF from Alcatraz and take a different ferry to Sausalito.

You should make a reservation for Alcatraz before you leave home. The trip is often sold out.

If you can work it in, take a night tour of Alcatraz. It has a much smaller number of people, so you can really see lots and take your time. There are also areas open at night that are not open during the day - including the Hospital ward where the Birdman of Alcatraz cell is located.

You probably heard about the Tiburon Ferry that stops at the Angel Island on the way.
