Alaskan Railroad

I'm planning to take the Alaskan railroad from Anchorage to Denali. Tney list a Goldstar service which is more expensive and has reserved seats and some extras. Is it worth the extra moeney or can I still get a good view and comfortable seat in the regular section? Any suggestins where to stay near the park? Thanks for your help.
