Alaska trip
Hi, I live in Portugal and i want to visit Alaska in my next trip (July or August 2008), together with my wife (we are in the mid fourty's).
We will spent 15 days.
What do yo sugest in terms of:
Itinerary - How many days in each place ?
Is it good to rent a car ?
Good places to stay and to visit.
Many thanks
Rui

Do a search on Alaska to see posts that people have already made about their itineraries. I think you will enjoy yourselves more if you get a rental car. Each popular town has a different personality. I've seen one person say they didn't like Homer but at least two people say they would love to retire there. (I liked it very much.) If you want to do some fishing that would also influence how much time you spend in a place like Homer.

Have you considered a cruise, possibly in combination with a land tour? See any of the cruiseline web sites to see if this is of interest to you: Princess Cruise, Holland America, Carnival come to mind.

It sounds like you are in the very, very early planning stages of your trip.
Why don't you begin by taking a look at sample organized tours from an Anchorage-based tour company <http://www.exploretours.com/index.html> just to get some ideas of where you might want to go and see in a specific period of time. You could then go to the places that are most popular with other visitors.
Look at the sample itineraries and decide where you want to go and the priority of importance you would place on each. Then you could decide how you are going to travel
