Alaska; one night between Seward and Talkeetna

Due to the tricky scheduling involved accommodations in Alaska, I have one unaccounted for day/night between Seward and Talkeetna. What between those two spots would be good to spend a day and night at? We are two middle aged adults with 4 young adults who are most interested in wildlife/adventure/nature.
Thanks for any thoughts!

There are several nice places in Wasilla. The other option would be Palmer.

Just stay in Anchorage and have a good meal and a comfortable place to sleep.

Matanuska Glacier is gorgeous. You can climb the glacier's toe. So another vote for Palmer or Wasilla. You may also visit the synchretist cemetary of Eklutna with the colourful spirit houses. And certainly Anchorage is worth a day.

The Alyeska Resort would be a great choice. Lots of trails, a tram to view glaciers, very nice hotel.

There are even short day hikes one can take from Anchorage - husband and adult son spent an afternoon hiking and saw a bear. For dinner (wish I remember the name) but downtown there is a brewery/restaurant that we enjoyed.

There's the Girdwood/Portage/Whittier area (my favorite family area in AK). You can easily spend 2-3 days there if kids area involved. For a list of things to do check out the post at this link:
