Alaska cruise/tour

Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best cruise line for a cruise to Alaska which includes three days at Denali? It doesn't matter where the cruise begins, but I would like to hear from anyone who has done this tour. Thank you.

You need to go googling - Denali is inland so you'd need a tour as part of the cruise package or else to book a tour yourself. You might be better off cruising to Anchorage from Vancouver/Seattle and then going to Denali yourself (either by train or rental car).

Many of the cruise lines do a combination cruise with a land tour. We did one with other family members and it was very easy as far as planning goes, because they planned when to go, where to stay, how long to be there, etc.

If that is your travel style, just look at the glitzy magazines the cruise lines have at any travel agency and pick one that has the combination of stops and length of time on land which suits you.

That said I would not do a cruise tour again. I would love to go to Alaska again, but would want to fly there, rent a car, use the ferry system and visit the sites that are along the coast, spend several days in Denali, take day trips from Homer or another port to see wildlife. But that suits my style.

If you go to the change forum box at the top of the page and scroll down to cruises you will see plenty of threads that address Alaskan cruises

I know Holland American offer land/sea tours that include three days in Denali. Some of my friends are taking it this summer.

We did the HAL land/cruise tour which included 3 nights in Denali. I'm sure other cruise lines may offer similar options. If I had to do our trip over I would just do the 7 day cruise and would DIY Denali with a rental car. Much more freedom and flexibility.

You might want to pose your question on the "Alaska" forum (Ports of Call) on Cruise Critic. There will be many more people there who have taken Alaska cruises.

Last summer we did a tour with Holland America that included two nights in Denali (we could have done three nights and wish we had) and the Yukon. We loved the Yukon and are really glad we toured some of it. I'm not sure, but I think HAL is the only company that includes the Yukon. Seems like that's why we chose it.

You really can visit Denali on your own. Rent a car and drive there and you can expand your options on lodging, itinerary, timing etc. It's very easy.
