Aladdin or Lion King? Broadway for kids 1st time
Traveling with 8 and 10 year old for 1st trip to NYC. Both have been to Disney World numerous times. Which of these 2 shows would you pick and why?
I did a search for this question and found nothing on Aladdin. Sorry if it has been discussed and I couldn't find.
Thanks for your help!

So you see, we all have OUR favorite. Again....I would ask the children which story is THEIR favorite. LK is an older Disney story, so the kids might lean toward Alladin. Keep in mind that it is Broadway, not cartoons. In LK all the animals are actors who are clearly visible under the costuming. In Alladin the characters are all people. So that might make a difference in how the kids connect to the production. You have to use your imagination a bit more at LK.
You might also check to see at which show you can get better seats during your visit. Sometimes that is the deciding factor. With children, you want to be seated where they can see. My preference is alway front of the Mezz for these big shows.
I'm sure you can find snippets of both shows on YouTube or the shows' official web page. Let the kids have a look and decide.
Enjoy

My wife and I saw Aladdin in February and loved it.
We had young kids when the film was out and the songs are very familiar
Seats are tight at The New Amsterdam and a bourbon and coke cost us twenty-five bucks.
Mezzanine seats were best to see all the action on stage.

I was pretty much bored by the Lion King also. I remember the excitement about the costuming and puppets when it first opened and followed the show via TV segments, etc. So I was really hyped to see it years later. I was mostly bored. Kids seated near me seemed bored too. I think Aladdin would hold their attention more. Just one person's opinion.

We saw both with our children whzn there were young for LK and with our youngest daughter who is 20 y old now for Alladin( last may in NY).
For us Music of LK and inventivity on the puppets were an enchantment. The arrival of the animals in the alleys has been always feeric(we saw the show 3 times : London, NY and Paris). We and our children never bored...the moment when the fathjer's head appears in stars was one of the favorite of our child and they love all the animals...
For Alladin the part with the Genius worth the tickets but the romantic part between Aladin and Jasmine are just to miss : this is boring...The depart on the tapestry stay mysterious...
At 8 and 10 I think i favorise LK. Alladin could be a little long during the romantic part...
