I am planning a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in July. Leaving from Detroit - what is the recommended Airport in or closest to Myrtle Beach? I am also considereing staying at one of the Grand Strand Resorts - any suggestions?

there is Myrtle Beach International Airport....callnorthcarolina.com/Aeonautics/myr.htm ..Air Tran..Delta..USair ..etc
Bob
I suggest Kingston Plantation as first choice and Ocean Creek as second. Both are large resorts with oceanfront high rises, as well as garden/lake condos. Well-kept grounds, nicest resorts MB has to offer in my opinion (with possible exception of Litchfield, which is south of MB).
And as xx said, MB has a jet-port. IF for some reason you can't get there directly, Wilmington NC is approx. 1 hour to the north, and Charleston SC is approx. 2 hours to the south. Nearest large airport is Charlotte, approx. 4-5 hours east of MB.
Finally, you may want to search this site for recent posts on MB, lots of good suggestions there as to things to see & do.
Hi Bob:
Midway, Delta, UA Airways and Spirit all fly into Myrtle Beach Jetport. All the major car rental places are right there in the airport.
I second chuck's suggestion for Kingston Plantation which is run by Embassy Suites. There are the towers on the Beach itself or Villas (which I prefer) www.embassysuites.com or call them directly at 843-445-0006. I've done better with room selection and rates by dealing with the hotel directly. Have fun!
The Myrtle Beach airport is the closest and best. The hotel we love the best is Forest Dunes. It's actually privatly owned condos at very reasonable prices.
