Affordable Savannah Extended Stay Options
Our first trip to Savannah, GA was great and we would like to return for an extended stay this June. Rather than do the expensive B&B tour like we did our first trip there, we are hoping to find an affordable way to spend two to four weeks either in Savannah or at one of the nearby beaches. We were thinking hotels might be the way to go, but would also love to learn of some affordable weekly rates for a one bedroom condo. Please, any suggestions would be very welcome.........

No clue about condos - but the Midtown area of Savannah is quite reasonable and there are a number of extended stay type hotels in that area - most with kitchens. Downside is that it is about a 10 minute drive from Historic District and the area has nothing to recommend it other than big box stores and strip malls. But it might present a reasonalby priced alternative.

Hi grbayman,
My friend and I stayed in a condo in Savannah last March. It was the Bird Baldwin House and we enjoyed our stay very much. The condo was very spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and in a good location to walk all over the historic part of Savannah.

Have a nice stay in beautiful old Savannah!

vrbo.com is a good place to start.
At the edge of the historic district is the Thunderbird hotel offering free parking and good rates.
Midtown has less expensive hotels including Extended Stay hotels.
Snowbirds (mostly from Canada) spend Jan/Feb/Mar at Jekyll Island at Oceanside Inn and Suites in rooms with kitchenettes at reduced rates.
If you are interested in the general area, perhaps consider a week or two in Savanna and the rest of the time on a beach. I love Jekyll.
