Hi, my husband and I are going to be in St. Louis area in Oct. for a one week horseback riding trip out of Bourbon, MO (about 1 hour outside of St. Louis) and are investigating lodgings for the first night, when we arrive at airport late - around 10:00. Probably don't want to drive too far that night. Then when our ride is done we have a weekend, Sat and Sun nights where we would like to perhaps find a B & B either between Bourbon and St. Louis or in St. Louis. We need to return to the airport early Mon AM to catch a flight home so that is a consideration. Any suggestions? Haven't been to this part of the country before so any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance!

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. I live in St. Louis and have been to the area and it should be beautiful.
Your first night you might just want to stay at a hotel by the airport. There's a ton of them, just across the street and I'm sure you could find one in your price range. The Marriott is nice and the closest. Your first day drive may be 1.5 hours from there.
My friend owns a B&B here in Kirkwood, Mo which is southwest of the city about 20 miles and just on the way to/from Bourbon right off highway 44. Kirkwood is a cute suburban town with a lot of history, shops and a great location. It's similiar to Mayberry.
Here's her website: http://www.eastlakeinn.com/
Her name is Lori and she has a beautiful home right in a historic area. (The picture on the front page makes the landscape look overgrown...the photo does not do the front any justice.) But she's a great host and a great cook--been there several times for dinner!
You may be ready for some other sights: the Anheuser Bush brewery is a lot of fun. You can go to the arch and learn how it was built, which is pretty amazing! And there's always some kind of festival around town. Lori would be able to help you with the planning.
Have fun.
That sounds like a fun trip. there are many hotels neat the airport. The area is not great though. But there are Marriot properties, and all of the large chains.
If you want to spend some time in st. Louis at the end, there is a Inn in St. Louis called The Seven Gables Inn. It is located in Clayton.( i beleive it in the Historic register) It is right in the middle of tons of fabulous restaurants and niced bars. There are some art galleries, etc.. You are so close to eveything in this location including a 10 min ride to airport.
You are close to Forest Park, The Loop, great shopping, most HWYS to get to downtown, etc..
Have fun!
