Advanced Reservations for USS Arizona Memorial Policy

This policy is current as of 6/8/15. It went into effect around February 1.

While I don't like linking a different travel forum page to this forum, I also do not like re-writing everything either.

Note that you can make advanced reservation up to two months in advance and also one day in advance.

Note that none of the tours are "sold out". Only the number of tickets available for advanced reservations for certain tours have been reserved.

Note that 1,300 of the tickets for the day are kept for walk-ups.

An important point imo, and one that isn't noted in many guidebooks. It's one of the reasons I advise people to go as early as possible, because wait times in the early morning are usually close to zero and there's no difference between having a reservation and not. By midday, the tourist throngs have arrived, and having a reservation just means you'll wait a little less than people who don't have one.

A NEWBIE--first time to the islands.

Our intent will be to be at Pearl first thing in the morning. Perhaps bye 8am.

Have booked the Sheraton Princess and wonder if there are regular busses to Pearl?

To get there by 8 am on a city bus will be tough, as it is a long commute in morning rush hour.

The Bus will take 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes depending which end of Waikiki you are on. Diamond Head end 1 hour 15 minutes. Ala Moana end 1 hour.

You can easily get there by 8am driving or by The Bus.

Still you can make advanced reservations for 9am for $1.50 each for USS Arizona Memorial tour.

Getting there at 8am without advanced reservations will probably still get you tickets for USS Arizona Memorial tour, but perhaps for several hours later or perhaps all walk up tickets for the entire day may have already been given out.

We took a bus to Pearl Harbour, it took over an hour as I remember. We got there about 11am and managed to get walk up tickets for the Arizona tour but didn't actually have enough time to use them. This was in May which is off-season I think. We will definitely go back to Pearl Harbour on our next trip. My DD was with DH and I and she downloaded the Bus app onto her phone. Made things a lot easier.

On the way back there were about 8 of us waiting for a bus, and a shuttle van pulled up and offered to take us all back for a specific price. We were sick of waiting so went with him. There was a catch though as he stopped at a bakery, and wanted us all to go buy something but we didn't!!. It was about a 15 minute stop which we weren't happy about.

I just checked with bus and Dusty is right( as usual!). If you leave Waikiki on Kuhio at 7:03 you can get to Ph by about 8:17. Absolutely try and reserve tickets though.

Thanks very much for this reminder. I go on a 3-generation family trip every summer and for my niece's high school graduation she requested a trip to Hawaii. So that's where we're going this year. I think we'll go to Pearl Harbor the day after arrival since we will all still be on east coast time and will likely be wide awake at 3 a.m. It should be easy to get out early.

A couple of changes:

You can now make advanced reservations for up to 12 people on one reservation (used to be six).

Seems the one hour in advance required to pick up reserved tickets is no longer.

"How early do I need to pick up reserved tickets?

We suggest that visitors arrive an hour before their ticket time in order to pick up their tickets, see the harbor area, and tour our two museums before their program. At a minimum, please be here five to ten minutes before your program to make sure you can enter the theater. If you are not here by your program time and we are out of walk-in tickets, your seats may be given away to visitors on standby."

Lots of other good info on their new FAQ list.

Thanks for this! I just booked a reservation for 7 people in November. Of course I booked too late and all the morning slots are gone, but it's still nice to have a reservation.

tifa, perhaps not to late!

You still have the option of the day before advanced reservations to get an earlier tour.

hmm, you think I will be able to exchange tickets for an early time? Or maybe just reserve new ones? I will double check the day before, thanks!

For 7 people you are out only $10.50 to make new reservations.

But, as vincenzo said, get there early (around 7:30 or earlier and you will be able to exchange them.
