Hello,
I posted a couple of days ago about driving from Key West to the Gulf Coast of Florida. We received some good suggestions. Does anyone have any suggestions for accomodations (2 nights) on the mainland near Captiva and/or Sanibel? Also any thoughts on staying also for (2 nights) in the Indian Rocks Beach area? Thanks.

There are 3 or four chain hotels on Summerlin Rd in Fort Myers that are convenient to the Causeway to sanibel/captiva... they are "on the Mainland" but not on the beach...
for two nights, you may just want to stay on the islands... there are dozens of accomodations, many on the beach... just the difference in tolls and parking is sizable...
We stayed in Ft Myers at Casa Playa and enjoyed it very much. It is clean and the location is perfect. You can walk to the pier and the little town square where good things like ice cream can be purchased.
It is also close to Captiva and Sanibel for day trips! http://www.casaplayaresort.com/
Re: Indian Rocks Beach - there is a nice Holiday Inn Harbourside, full service hotel, in Indian Rocks Beach. It faces the intercoastal but is not on the beach, which is across the street. www.HIHarbourside.com
Also, if you'd like to be on the beach, look at one of www.GulfsideResorts.com and their Sarah's Seaside. Owners are wonderful and the property is well maintained.
Adjacent to Indian Rocks Beach is Indian Shores, and you might enjoy a condo rental from www.BarefootBeachResort.com. Again, this is on the intracoastal and across the street from the beach, but huge pool, bbqs on property, spacious units and friendly staff.
Hope these suggestions help - all will treat you and your family very well!
Hello,
Thank you for all the suggestions. We will certainly check them out.
