A place to crash while visiting San Andreas Fault

I am writing a research paper on the San Andreas Fault and have made plans to go on a Jeep Eco tour to get a closer look at it. I live in the Oakland area and I'm only going for 1 day, so I just need a place to spend the night, I don't really care about the cost, I just want something close by so that I don't have to do a lot of traveling between the tour and the hotel. Any suggestions?

Could you be a little more specific re which part of the San Andreas Fault? I would guess close to Palm Springs, but it runs for miles and miles.

The San Andreas runs much of the length of California. Give a hint which part(s) you are exploring . . . . . .

I can predict the flaws in your research paper already. You might as well stay put and write the paper from the library and from the 'net.

Every time I see this Title I laugh,
Crashing and the San Andreas Fault is a funny choice of words.
