6 New England states with preschoolers

Our vacation plans fell through for the week before Labor Day, so instead I'm going to take my boys on day trips to all 6 New England states that week. We live in southern NH, so we are pretty central.

VT...I think we'll go to Quechee and on the way to/from stop at Apple Hill Farm in Concord. Any other little stops along 89??

Mass...not sure yet. We got to Mass all the time. Maybe Rockport/Gloucester, or the Lowell trolley museum.

NH....Hopkinton State Fair on Labor Day.

Maine....Probably the York area for the day with a stop at York Wild Animal Kingdom.

Now I need help....what do I do in RI and CT with kids? In CT I'd like to focus on the northeast corner to keep the drive under 2 hours, but I really don't know what is there. And what about RI? They are too young for Newport.
