6 Kids, 2 adults Vacation near Ohio (6-8 hours driving)

Jump to last reply

OK Wonderful Fodorites- I'm opening this message to gather ideas for our family vacation this year. A bit short on planning time-yes, but I can do it! (I hope)

To give you an idea of the situation: we travel with our 6 children by vehicle (airfare is out due to cost). Thus, we prefer to stay at roughly 6 hours drive time, however, we have done 8 hours more than once. We are near Cleveland area.

Travel month-either July or August (kids' activities are kind of changing our traditional week, last week of July). So, we could do a week or maybe 5 days in August before school starts.

Children's ages-17 yrs old, down to 6 yrs old.

Our past vacations: Mammoth Cave, Ky, 2 trips to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, 2 trips to Canada, and one "staycation" camping.

Our interests: relaxation, water parks (great entertainer for kids-and wears them out), camping (traveling to farther areas, we use cabins, not our camper), hiking, beaches.

I'm sort of at a loss for ideas. I have considered beachfront rental somewhere-do you have suggestions? (Typically we pay roughly $800-$1200 for a week of cabin rental).

Actually, any suggestions of where to go and what to do with these 6 kids will be most appreciated!! :)

Thank you in advance and I look forward to your suggestions and maybe even the chance to hear some of your own travel experiences! :)
