Pam,
You'll get a better quality response if you give some more specifics. What's your price range? Type of quisine would be good too. I know you say anything different, but maybe you want tell folks some sorts of food you've never tried but would be interested in.

My favorite for a group of your size is
Chez Josephine. It is owned and run by the adopted son of Josephine Baker. The
cuisine is French but not heavy. There is a private room upstairs which would hold 20 people. Downstairs is more lively with a piano bar.

Pam,
For something different, reserve the wine cellar at Il Buco which is at 47 Bond Street in the Village. Their wine cellar is one of the most unique locations on the city and would be perfect for your party.
For full disclosure, this used to be my favorite restuarant. It wasn't very well known and it was like having a meal in a small Mediterranean village. New ownership changed it a bit to much for my taste and I haven't been back in a few years. However, it has become much more popular and its Zagat ratings have gone way up.

In addition to the previous suggestions I would add Firebird. It's an oppulent Russian restaurant in the theater district. I recently organized a party for 30 there. Our group went to a matinee and then went there for a short reception and dinner. It's a bit different and has a special feel.

I'm definitely not a free advertiser as 'suspicious' suggests. You can see that I've posted on other NYC related issues and didn't mention the Supper Club. Besides, I don't think the Supper Club would pay someone to come to the Fodors forum and generate business that might result in 2 customers.
