4th of July at Lake Tahoe

We'll be spending a long weekend over the 4th of July at the Hyatt on the north side of Lake Tahoe. We've been skiing at LT a couple of times but haven't been there in the summer. Any suggested activities such as hikes, water sports, etc. for an active family including boys 7 and 9?
Thanks!

Will there be fireworks? I remember seeing at South Tahoe, spectacular! Worth a trip.

Yes, a great Fireworks display over the lake, put on in front of the Hyatt Resort. We've gone for umteen years. If you are guests of the Hyatt you are issued a wrist band to pass security, to be able to sit on the lounge chairs on their private beach on the 4th to watch. The Incline Village park is located next door, and people come early to get those parking spots.

We usually rent a boat and kayaks, etc. from the Hyatt water activities center.
See you there!!!

Lots of great hikes, and water activities range from a paddle boat trip to the Emerald Bay to jet boats along the coast. There are swimming beaches, too. If you've been there skiing, it might be fun to take the ski lift and see how the scenery is different in the summer. I once had a wonderful guide to Tahoe, which was borrowed and never returned, but try Amazon and see if you can't find a guidebook that outlines hikes and other activities.

HINT to padams421...
Don't even think about moving your car on the 4th from the Hyatt Parking lot after noon that day. Have dinner reservations made the week ahead at one of the restaurants at the hotel or across the street on Country Club Dr. The whole village comes out for picnics & fireworks and traffic is a mess, and you'll loose your parking spot, unless you stay in house.

Riding bikes around the lake on the bike path is a great time---it is mostly flat. We rode bikes from Tahoe City to Sugar Pine Point State Park---there's a nice beach at Meeks Bay about 2 miles south of the park.

We spent a whole day at D.L.Bliss State Park. We hiked the Rubicon Trail---beautiful trail along the lake.

The kids loved Sand Harbor beach---they loved jumping off the boulders into the freezing(really freezing)water. Take wetsuits if you have them.

We took a horseback ride(daughter's request) from Zephyr Cove Stables.

The guys played golf--they really enjoyed a small 9 hole course called Glenbrook---also played Incline.

We also rented a boat and a tube--nice seeing the multimillion dollar homes from the water. We got cold though--and we were there in Aug.

Have a great time.
