Where would the best place be for a travel base if you wanted to visit the 4 corners region, Grand Canyon, Bryce, zion, mesa verde, page rafting, hoover dam and las vegas.
All these can't be done from 1 base but I'm sure some grouping could!

I visited all the places you mention with the exception of LV. I used Phx as the base and made the following circle route:
Phx, Gr. Canyon, Monoument Valley, Canyon de Chelly, Mesa Verde, Arches/Canyonlands, Bryce, Zion and Lake Powell before heading back to PHx. You could go to LV after Zion before heading back to Phx. You could use LV as the beginning and ending point as well. YOu could consider the following before making a decision. Which destination offers the best airfare and which offers the best deal on a car rental if one is needed.
From Conn., we found airfare and car rentals in Las Vegas to be a bargain compared to PHX and designed our route accordingly: LV-Zion-Bryce-Lake Powell-Grand Canyon-Sedona-Kingman-Hoover Dam-LV. We stayed at each location (except the dam). If you are trying to minimize packing/unpacking, you could stay midway between Zion and Bryce (they are very close), but backtracking would mean more driving and it wouldn't be as convenient to see sunrise at Bryce (a must in my opinion). I don't know if Page makes a good central location to visit Mesa Verde, as I have no knowledge of that park. You could stay at the Grand Canyon and stop off at the Hoover Dam for a few hours on your way to LV.
Whatever you decide, rest assured you'll be seeing some stunning scenery. Have a great time.
Page probably wouldn't be a good base for Mesa Verde. Cortez, Colorado, or Monticello, Utah, woud be possibilities, but neither town itself has much to offer the visitor.
Moab would be two and a half hours from MV, and is near Arches NP, the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands NP, and Dead Horse Point state park. Monticello is probably an hour and a half away and has the advantage of being near the Needles section of Canyonlands.
Based on the rest of your trip, MV seems quite out of the way. It deserves at least a full day, so you might be better off going there on another trip, or doing an open-jaws thing where you don't have to drive back to the same airport where you arrived.
would probably be a good idea to fly into Phx and fly back out of LasVegas....do a circle..but may be a hefty fee for a drop off from one state to another...we tried to do a van from Phx to Vegas and they wouldn`t let us...
