Hi everybody,

I'm heading to New York next month but just for 3 days. Could you recommend me some good restaurants, bars, clubs ? I only have 3 days so I'd rather skip the tourist stuff and do what reals New Yorkers do.

Or a least, do you know a good website or blog that would help me ? I'm getting lost with the thousands of hundreds of addresses that we can find on the internet !

Generally:
The city is basically a grid above 14th Street. East of Fifth Ave are east street numbers, west are west street numbers. The Avenues run north/south and in are numerically order interspersed with Lexington, Park, and Madison Aves on the East side. Broadway snakes it's way through Manhattan but it is all on the westside.

I was born in NY and just last week I went to the Met Museum. This week, if the weather is still good, we will go to the Highline, again.

Locals are people too.

Where are you from Marie? New York is a pretty big city and as such there are thousands of places to eat, get a drink or dance. In your home town it might make sense to ask 'which of the 3 places to eat has the best cook' but in NYC to ask 'where is a good restaurant' makes no sense unless you are looking for a list that will last you for years of eating out every night.

There is a reason why there are 'thousands of hundreds' of hits on the internet. There are 'thousands of hundreds' of answers.

So that said, are you 20 or 60? Trendy or conservative? Like fine dining in 3* Michelin places or a good hot dog? Looking for the "best" pizza in NY?

It will help if you narrow things down a bit.

New Yorkers. while they often have an activve social life - do not spend all their waking hours in restaurants, bars and clubs.

they generally hae jobs.

In their time off - besides buying deodorant at Duane Read and other errands - they generally do things with friends (movies, theater, museums, etc), cultivate their hobbies and interests (dance, architecture, fine dining, biking in the Park, water skiing, yoga classes ????) or figure out what the latest trend is. (Check out New York Magazine or Time Out New York online for the latter).
