26 GLACIER TOUR OR PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND

If one wants to take a day cruise out of Whittier which would you recommend--the 4-1/2 hour 26 Glacier tour or a longer tour of the Esther Passage/Prince William sound? One of the travelers is prone to sea sickness...so are either of these cruises rough?

Orlando,

I am a charter Capt. and I operate from the Port of Whittier. The Sound has been dubbed "Lake Prince William Sound" due to its calm waters. Also the majority of people who are prone to sea sickness get sick from the rolling seas. There may be waves in the Sound, but there are no rolling seas in the Sound. Both cruises are great, however, you will have a better opportunity to view more wildlife such as whales on the longer cruise.

Two years ago, we took the 26 Glacier tour and found it interesting, calm and smooth. There is no disagreement there!

My wife and I took the 4.5 hour 26 Glacier Cruise last September. The weather starts to turn, here in Alaska, in
September, but I can honestly say...we didn't get even a little bit sick...and I can't recall seeing anyone else that
was getting sick. The design of their boats is suppose to cut down on sea sickness. I guess it works!

We saw all kinds of animals and sights, including a pod of killer whales It was a great time and the crew was very accommodating. Here are some pictures and more details of our trip:
