2006 US Form 1040

Our year end travel may have caused us to ignore a few year end items:
The Tax Credit for Fed'l tel excises taxes (line 71). Some businesses may have $10.K or more.
The last minute renewal of the deduction for state/local sales taxes for those in states without income taxes.
The unusually high capital gains on many successful mutual funds.
Prospero Ano Nuevo.

I just have to ask -- since you live in Mexico, how do you manage to take this deduction:
"The last minute renewal of the deduction for state/local sales taxes for those in states without income taxes."

We got a State booklet already (California). And our governator broke his leg, do you think it calls for tax relief?

As an expat, my last US addy is valid for voting, and I must pay Fed'l income taxes on (the libs would say "unearned" interest, dividend and capital gain income) in retirement in the US.
That includes my very hard earned Social Security benefits, and I suggest I earned all.
When you get the max 35 years contribution US SC, you may laugh and have a wonderful life. lol!

Claro, www.irs.gov
But these guys are not about to volunteer any personal/business tax breaks on line.
Estimates are that some businesses may get $Millions from the tel excise taxes.
