1. The way our trip is arranged, we will have 2 partial days in LA (starting from about 2pm). What would you recommend for these days ? 2 adults, one is very bad English speaker (so theaters are not an option). Beverly Hills and Santa Monica are already covered on other days.
2. What hotel would you recommend that is easily reachable from LAX ?
Really appreciate your help.

How about Manhattan Beach?
We like Jamaica Bay inn at marina del ray but you would need a car or catch taxis.
We like Jamaice Bay Inn ans its sister hotel, the Inn at Vemice Beach. Pacifica hotels. But the OP has already been to nearby Santa Monica. ,
I blame it on my iPad!
We like Jamaice Bay Inn and its sister hotel, the Inn at Venice Beach
It depends on what you mean by "reachable from LAX". By car? By city bus?
If it's a Saturday, the Getty Center is open until 9pm and it's restaurant is also a great place to have dinner.
The Crowne Plaza in Redondo Beach is a quick Taxi ride. You won't need a car once you get there. Sign up for their frequent visitor (forget what it's called, same as Holiday Inn) and you get 2 free bike rentals for 4 hours each. Great bike paths along the beach will take you to Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, both great beach communities. If you don't want to bike (it's only about 2 miles to Hermosa} you can walk right across the street to Redondo Pier. There are many restaurants on the pier. We live in the valley of LA and we stay at the Crowne Plaza all the time. I love that we can go away in 1 hour and never get in our car the entire time we are there! If you are there on a Sunday, Jay Leno is at the Comedy Store in Hermosa every Sunday night.
