2 or 3 nights in Hana

We are yearly visitors to Maui and will be there for 8 wks throughout January and February. I love Hana and would love to spend 2 or 3 nights there without breaking the bank for accommodations.. At this point I can't see anything real nice under $200 per night. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We loved staying at an individual cottage. It was the Guest Houses of Malani. It is listed under B & Bs on Tripadvisor. Their website is hanaguesthouses.com/There is a 1 bdrm and 2 bdrm cottage. Watching sunrise from the front porch with a cup of Kona coffee in hand was religious experience. Rates are closer to $300 though.

8 weeks on Maui? I'd spend a week in Hana.

A week in Hana in *winter* could be a week in the rain, watching the ocean pound the shore. That's *fine* if it's what you want, but would be a disappointment for some.

Nothing negative intended. People reading here don't always realize the difference winter makes, even on Maui. Last winter, in particular, Maui got a thorough drenching. Flash floods closed roads in Upcountry and Hana. Some people would be fine with the dramatic weather, but not if they were expecting something else.

I was addressing the OP who is a yearly visitor to Maui, and spending 8 weeks this year, so I'm inclined to think they are very aware of winter weather and surf conditions.
