I have read lots about the area but am having a bit of trouble narrowing down what to do in 1.5 days. We are staying about 10 minutes north of Duluth. Are there a few must sees for the area? Thanks so much!

The Canal Park Area of Duluth is a fun place to visit. It is right by the Duluth Ship canal and you can see the huge freighters come into the Duluth Harbor. They are very close and even tho I have seen them many times it is always fun. You can also tour the Museum at the Ship Canal. It has lots of interesting information about Lake Superior. They also will announce the arriving ships at the museum and will give information about the ships. There is a Great Lakes Ore Boat "The Irvin" which is located between Canal Park and the DECC and it can be toured. The Lake Walk is also a nice walk. It goes from Canal Park out to Leif Erickson Park (Actually farther I think) and it is lovely on a nice day. There are lots of hotels, shops and restaurants in Canal Park. You can also tour Glensheen Mansion which is located on London Rd along Lake Superior in the East End of Duluth. It is an interesting tour. If you are staying 10 mi north of Duluth I assume you are staying somewhere along the lake between Duluth and Two Harbors. Two Harbors is also a cute little town and you can drive farther up the shore and visit Split Rock Lighthouse which is quite well known and fun to visit. You can also visit Gooseberry State Park. There are a number of restaurants along the North Shore which are fun to visit and very good. One of the most well known is Betty's Pies which is about 2 miles north of Two Harbors. Hope this helps. Have a fun time.
Thanks so much Cali. This gives me lots of great ideas. Sounds like a fun area to explore. I am looking forward to it.
