$119 per night at the Venetian special
For those of you who might be able to use it the Venetian Hotel in Vegas has their suites on sale for $119 for certain nights in Feb and March. The code is GREEN4 if you call their reservations line 1-866-403-8046

We got that same rate last June for two nights after a convention I had to attend for business. The rates during the convention were more than triple that amount! Anyway, the Venetian is well worth the bargain price of $119 per night. Unfortunately, I just can't get away for a while, but will be there again in early June for the same convention. I hope they offer that rate again this year.

Postal,
Honestly, it depends. If traffic to Vegas continues to lag, especially convention traffic, the hotels will need to price the rooms to move in non-peak periods to offset the drops that occurred in peak periods. If overall traffic increases, you may see the hotels that can, try and stabilize the rates by moving them up a bit.
Places like Bellagio and Venetian do not want to get caught in situation where they need to discount rooms in order to fill them in perpetuity.
That said, given the current situation in the economy and the likely drop-off in traffic if a war happens with Iraq, the hotels will need to make sure their rooms are full, whenever possible. For the consumer, that could mean a continuation of favorable rates.

johnmcd2, if you go on the Venetian's website and sign their guestbook, they will send you their promotional offers when they have them. That's how I got a suite there last year for $99 a night. I went at the end of April also.

Just received this rate today by email for the dates I want in April (20/21/22) hoorah!! However, 'joesource' has advised me (via a thread I started on the Californian forum) that there is construction work going on at the Venetian. Any more details anyone? Where do I need to request a room to be farthest from the works? I would like to take advantage of this offer, particularly because the Venetian is one of very few Strip hotels which does not charge extra occupancy charges for children under 12. MGM, Mirage, Aladdin etc charge an additional $25 0r $30 per child per night and we have two. Naturally, however, we don't wish to be disturbed by construction noise even at a great rate of $119! If I telephone the hotel (we are in the UK) will they be able to offer the web rate and agree a favourable room location, or am I expecting too much! Sorry for my ignorance and thanks for your help.

Maybe they've started construction works now, but when I was there leaving February 18th there was nothing at Venetian, only Caesar's on both sides, but it's far from Venetian, you wouldn't hear it.

The construction is for Venetian's new tower called Venezia. Don't think it's open yet, but I just booked a Sat/Sun Labor Day weekend for a 1 King Luxury Venezia Suite at $318 ($179+$139) through the hotel's own website. Tried all other websites but none have Labor Day weekend dates. Don't know much about it except that it's bigger than the regular suite and has separate entry with concierge service. Does anyone know about Venezia?

I've booked a "Venezia" tower suite also for the end of June. The tower opens 6/20.
These new suites are more "expansive" in that the ceilings are higher. They have the same, on average, square footage as the current rooms at the Venetian.
Venezia guests will also have access to the new pool. The "unwashed masses" staying in the older part of the Venetian will not.
+ Separate check-in as mentioned.
That's about it, as far as differnces go!

Probably won't work for holiday weekends, but users of www.biddingfortravel.com report hits on the Venetian (5 stars) in the $80-$90 range from time to time. Worth a flutter, as they say...

Lobenz,
Try "gozoo03" as your code. You can also get to an online bidding page with these rates by going to travelzoo.com, clicking on "lodging specials", then Las Vegas. Scroll down to the blurb about the Venetian.
I just checked via the above route and they're showing $159/$159/$119 for Fri,Sat,Sun beginning August 29.
