Hi!
We are a Norwegian/American family wanting to stay 1 year in the U.S, and we are interested in checking out different areas. We have a teenage daughter (16), and we are looking for a community with a good public school, and good offers for youngsters (and grown-ups) especially soccer for her.
We do not want to live in an aerea with a go-go atmosphere(no big city). Something around 20-50.000 inhabitants would be preferred. A non-violent and healthy atmosphere with a nice climate is very attractive. Any Tips????!!
1 year stay around the Missisippi-delta....any nice places??????

Santa Fe, NM trip report (from April)

If you are interested in staying in the Miss. delta, I would recommend Jackson, Miss. It's a big enough town, but a big city. Any towns smaller than that in Mississippi and you're really in the country. Do you know the topographic characteristics of the Delta? It's damn flat. Nothing but cotton and soy-bean fields. It's a very economically depressed area of the US. I grew up a few hours north of Jackson in Helena, Arkansas; find Jackson, then highway 61, follow it north to highway 49, that's Helena. Email me for more info, if you wish. Bo
quick correction:
I meant to say Jackson is NOT a big city!
