Winter travel for different age groups

Hello there, I'm a college student who is trying to plan a trip with my parents this winter. I'm an only child. My parents are nearing 55 and can't really keep up with my activities. What do you think would be a good winter destination where I would be able to hike, ride a bike or ski while my parents could relax a little more but still go sightseeing? I tried to look up flights to Hawaii, but tickets over winter break are SO EXPENSIVE. I have no real preference as to where in the world this location is, I just need some ideas! Thanks for your help!

Where are you/they located (where will you be flying out of, if going by plane)?

I always go to Mexico for a few weeks in the winter. I like Puerto Vallarta, but there are lots of great cities and towns to visit that might have what you ask for.

I was also thinking about a city in Europe? But that would probably be an expensive ticket like you found for Hawaii.

I do love Hawaii too, have you priced flying on different days of the weeks, or used one of the airline website where you can put in flexible dates and see when it's cheaper to go?

Another idea would be staying in the US. Say going somewhere in Florida, or San Diego or Los Angeles, are all places that would have moderate weather, beaches, beautiful natural scenery.

You mentioned skiing so are you looking for a colder area or a beach area as others are offering?

Key West is perfect for both. I am 61 and can keep up. Your parent's might surprise you.

San Francisco, although it might be rainy, offers lots of hiking and biking opportunities as well as more sedate tourist occupations--but ones I think a young person would still enjoy. And there's nightlife. You can all take day trips out of the city, too.

Key West or Islamorada.

Aspen, Colorado. You can ski and hike, you can both enjoy the town, and excursions to Maroon Bells, a ghost town, etc.
