We have a bunch of photos from a recent trip to Australia and want to put them on a website so that the Fodorites on the Australia page can see them. We'd like a site that a viewer doesn't have to sign up at the site to view the pix, the pix would show in the browser (I just saw one on photobucket.com and the pictures were larger than my browser window requiring an extra click to get it to size--not a good idea with tons of pix), and could have pictures uploaded in their larger form (not have to be resized in order to upload. I have a webpage on webshots.com and they have to be really small in order to upload which is a pain.) Any suggestions?

I recently did a lot of research on photo sharing websites and I chose www.worldisround.com for the following reasons:

It's very easy to use, viewers don't have to register to view the photos (just to make comments), travel photos are unlimited, personal photos are limited, but you can also control who has access to them, owner of the photos retains copyright, etc. They've also recently added a new feature that shows the author how often his/her photos are being viewed.

You do need to reduce photo size before uploading, but you can easily do that using the batch processing function of PhotoShop.

If I can do it, anyone can.

I use photobucket. You can resize the photos before loading them or after loading to make them viewable without scrolling.

I, along with a few other Fodorites, use pbase.com. No resizing need to upload. You can even upload a whole series in the order you want by using a zip file.

I've used worldisround.com and like that, but recently tried the Google site, Picasa, and <u>really</u> like their site. No registration necessary for people to view your albums. You can have either private or public albums.

One of the best features, as far as I'm concerned, is the way it handles photos on your hard drive. I've got a bajillion folders under My Photos on my hard drive and of course each has to be opened individually to see everything and find that one picture you are looking for. Your photos will still be in My Photos, but the Picasa program has them as well and all organized by date, all visible at the same time by scrolling through the dates. I love that feature! They also have limited photo editing...cropping, red eye reduction, contrast and color and you can straighten crooked pictures. Very cool. I'm now using that website exclusively for photo sharing, not worldisround.

I also happily use Picasa. It is an easy download from Google and is very simple to use. We posted 600 pictures, in 2 albums, from a trip to a wedding and still have lots of available upload space.

Thanks for the hint about Picassa. We have it, but I have only used it for editing, and DH hates it because it rearranges his photos and he can't find them! I will look into the web posting feature. I read the page and it sounds unbelievably flexible. I hope it is easy to use!
