First of all, my boyfriend and I are thinking about a trip for his birthday in December. We are both 21, he has snowboarded before and I have never snowboarded or skied. Is there anywhere to snowboard that early? I've read a couple posts on here that December is too early for good snow.
What I'm looking for is an affordable place to go to (food, lodging and airfare), we would need to rent gear up there. We live in Florida, so we'd need gear. (I've seen a lot of posts regarding gear, so I think I'm covered there for references.) We are both broke college students, so affordability is a huge concern.
If December is too early regardless of location, what is a good time of year to go and where?
Thank you for everything. If you have any questions please let me know!

You probably want to repost this question in the US forum as you're more likely to get more responses there. I don't know about the US, but here in the Canadian Rockies, the ski hills are usually open late October to mid-November.
