Viking Cruise, Paris/Normandy 4/22-5/2/12
We've booked a Viking River Cruise (Paris/Normandy), boarding in Paris on 4/25, returning to Paris 5/2, leaving Paris for return to the US 5/4.
Everyone tells us to pack light---We welcome any suggestions as to how to do this.
What should we plan to wear?
What's the usual weather/temperature?
Thanks so much for whatever info/advice you can provide.

There is less need to pack light on a cruise. For cruising tips you might try cruisecritic.com.

We just returned from a Grand Circle Tour cruise starting in Paris to Normandy then busing back to Paris, March 9 to 20. Great trip! I packed a carryon and a backpack,( since we arrived in Paris 5 days before cruise, getting to apartment from airport via train),and had no problem with changes of outfits with black pants, white pants (corduroy) and one black and one red elastic waist pants with 5 tops and 3 sweaters and 4 scarves. Mix and match, nobody will remember what you wear, or care. Weather was chilly and rainy, Normandy is supposedly rainy a lot. Bring rain gear. Wearing layers, I was comfortable, with tights under my pants. Should be a bit warmer when you go but plan on cool weather.
A few women had beautiful outfits and started the day at breakfaast looking lovely with full blown makeup. I am 66 and never bothered much with makeup my whole life, now need it less as who notices what you look like at this age, LOL!!!
Most were pretty casual with jeans most days, even at majority of dinners.
Try to stay extra days in Paris, it was wonderful!!!!

Aahh, Paris & Normandy! We spent several days driving north from Paris to Dieppe, Honfleur, Mont St. Michel as well as Normandy. The weather in late Sept. was gorgeous except for the day at the Normandy beaches where it was windy and rainy. Bring lightweight hooded jacket or raincoat and pants that are quick drying (I never travel to Europe w/ jeans) in subdued colors that all go together. Look for shoes that have higher soles to keep you dry (boots, clogs, Merrells)not the mesh styles that are popular and cool, but if wet will not work. Perhaps a full skirt that twists up to tiny ball, and lots of pretty tops. We were last in Paris in late March and it was cold, I always travel w/ longsleeve black or cream Merino wool undershirt for base layer.
