vacation Idea

I am looking for vacation suggestions for a romantic destination for my husband and I that includes snorkeling. I would like to go somewhere that does not have spring breakers (alot of high school/college kids) since we are going during March. I would also like to go somewhere that has a lot of culture. Budget of less than 4000.00 for airfare/hotel. I am open to anywhere. Thanks for any suggestions.

We love Mexico south of Akumal to Tulum. Lots of places to snorkel, like Yal-ku lagoon, which isn't too commercial.

There are also plenty of archeological sites to visit to soak up some culture.

Playa Del Carmen was a blast for just me and the hubby two summers ago, but that was in July.

Second Akumal (the place of the turtles) I snorkeled there and loved seeing the sea turtles. Hotels and food on the Yucatan are well within your budget.

Thanks for all the replies. Greece would be nice, but average temperature is only about 55 in March, probably to cold for snorkeling. I have been to Cancun and Tulum and love that area for snorkeling, but I would like to try something new. Costa Rica sounds like it might be a possibility.

Look for a package to Hawaii. Most of the big travel agencies have them in your price range even from the east coast.

Ambergris Caye Belize had the best snorkeling I've experienced.

USVI might fit the bill too.

because of our current economy, there are some great deals to places that in the past might have been too expensive.

check out hawaii packages---i'd concur with that suggestion

i was just in costa rica. did some snorkeling but it wasn't great---probably wouldn't recommend it for snorkeling, but there was tons of other very interesting, nice fabulous "stuff" & tons of culture .

would recommend costa rica for beauty, good prices, all sorts of monkeys, sloths, butterflies, sloths, parrots, fabulous birds, active volanoes, a lot of rich beauty. ocean was nice, but unless there are GREAT reefs somewhere that i don't know about (totally possible), i'd look elsewhere.....

belize is supposed to be fabulous for snorkeling, too.

but i'd suggest hawaii if you can find a deal. since hawaii can be expensive, i'd look for a package.
