Useful travel apps

Hi everyone! Do you use any travel apps? Could you recommend any handy iphone/android applications that simplify a traveler's like? I've tried many, but most of them seem useless to me.

Will be grateful for any piece of advice!

It's not an app but here's a suggestion. Try using the Search function before posting a new topic that may well have been covered before. In this case very recently in fact.

One app I've come across and really like is called World Around Me (http://worldaroundmeapp.com/). It's uses augmented reality (pretty cool!) and all you have to do is type in what your looking for or choose from a list of categories and then just hold your phone up and it displays where things are as you move around.

It pulls all it's info from Google Maps/Google Places so it's pretty accurate. I gave it a go in Manchester earlier this week and it seemed to do the job pretty well - although it did miss off one or two places I'd have expected to see, presumably because they're don't have a page on Google Places or something?

I love just wondering round and seeing what I discover as I go so I'd imagine WAM could be pretty handy if I want to find out where bars/restaurants are and read reviews before deciding whether to go there or not - I suppose it sort of combines Google Maps with Trip Advisor in that respect.

I think Living Earth is cool. But I wouldn't pay for it.
Dropbox for saving travel documents when I don't have wifi.

Most of what I use came with the phone.

I use Tripadvisor, Yelp and booking.com for research and making reservations on the go, sorry Fodors!!

I am not sure what type of travel apps you are looking for but I can highly recommend the google translator app for android. You can download preferred languages so you don´t need a data connection to use it while travelling! However, with a data connection or WIFI, you can use the app to scan documents, menus, etc.. and it will translate them! Fun and useful and I promise I don´t work for Google haha. I hear they have a similar app for Windows phones. Not sure about IPhones though?
