Travel Insurance for self-planned trip

We want to plan our own itinerary for 2 wks in Southeastern Italy in spring 2014. We've done Italy on our own in past but never had any type of trip insurance, Don't think this is wise since we've aged a bit! But not sure best way to proceed with this. Or should we use an agent for flights and then be independent for hotels and schedule. Any advice or personal experiences will be appreciated!

I travel independently most of the time. On independent trips the only insurance I bother with is medical and medical evacuation and repatriation. For the latt try Seven Corners.

I like www.insuremytrip.com to compare policies and purchase travel insurance.

Check insuremytrip.com It is a site that lets you compare various companies/coverages and decide. Nothing about your trip indicates a travel agent would be necessary.

You might also want to check out tripinsurancestore.com. They have an office with live agents if you want to get advice from a real human being, as well as a good website.
