Hello everyone! I'm looking for a travel bed for my 2 year old daughter. I'm looking for something that fits the following requirements, if such a thing exists...

Safe/low to the floor so that she won't get hurt if she rolls off.

Easy to assemble

Folds up to a size that is reasonable. (Carry-on size is preferrable.)

Costs less than getting our daughter her own hotel room with spa package and personal chef.

How about a sleeping pad? You can get them at camping stores. They range in prices and you can get an air mattress style or foam style.

http://www.rei.com/product/769016 - This one has a nylon bottom and polyester top (and is water resistant), and isn't that expensive.

The air mattresses would be more compact, but are subject to "popping". The foam won't pop, but will take up more space in your luggage.

Thanks! That's definitely a possibility and I never would have come up with that myself since I'm not a camper! I wonder if it would fit into one of the big rolling suitcases. I'll have to measure ours and see...

Any other suggestions out there?

(The "Travel n' Trundle" looks good for toddlers. Some of the others don't look too different from a pack n play.)

We've got one of these: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4433186 and it works great. It is really light and assembles and disassembles in just a minute.

I read a post recently that recommended bringing a small pop up tent for toddlers to play in in the hotel room while the parents get some rest time in bed. What about a combo of the kids sleeping pad from REI and a pop up tent for a cozy "camping" experience right in the hotel? Sounds like fun and a great place to corral toys when you leave the room.

BlueSwimmer-- Now THAT'S an idea! A way to keep them cozy and somewhat contained...perfect.

We just bought a little Dora the Explorer tent-like thing today, so we're halfway there already.

Another option for padding the floor of the tent might be a memory foam mattress topper or egg crate foam cut to size or even layered for more softness. You should be able to compress it down into a roll to put in your big suitcase with cinch straps.
