suggestions about noise cancelling earphone
I love travelling incredibly, but every time, when i am on my train, the noise always overwhelms me!! People talking,laughing,snoring, I can't tolerate at all and my earphone can't filter these troublesome noises. I just want to find an high-tech earphone to get rid of them. Do you know any earphones that i want? HOPE I CAN GET SOME HELP HERE! THANKS~~~

I have not purchased them yet but after quite a bit of research online I think there are the ones I am getting from Harman AKG N60NC

I made a couple of trips with headphones but ended up replacing them with earphones. Headphones are heavier and take up too much space for the value they provide. I find I'm using my earphones so much more. They're more comfortable when dozing off on the plane, or helping me sleep when having a restless night. After much research a few years back, I bought the Phiaton PS 20. They do the job and cancel out a huge amount of surrounding noise. I don't like things IN my ears.
Anyone else have a suggestion more like the style of Bose or AGK N60NC I linked above (over ear or at least on ear).
Traveling soon and really need to get these purchased!

suze: I usually hate things in my ears too. But I have the Bose noise canceling ear buds and they are AMAZING. They are so compact they take no room at all and work great. They come w/ really soft tips in three sizes - so you can fit them to your ear. Maybe go into a Bose store and try a pair to see if they might work for you -- I've tried 3 or 4 different over the ear headphones and these are by far the best for me.

Another vote for the Bose earbuds, but NOT the noise cancelling ones. I bought a pair of the non noise cancelling buds before our latest trip around South America. I tested both types extensively and found no noticeable difference between the two.
The soft tips fit so well they block out most of the ambient noise. Great on planes and effective even on colombian buses where they tend to crank up the volume to almost painful levels.

I purchased Bose over-the-ear noise cancelling earphones about three years ago. I love them. I connect my iPod whenever we fly, or tune into white noise. They filter out most everything. I only use them when we fly, and we do a couple times a year. They dont ever seem to go on sale, bought mine in Delaware at their outlet so probably didnt pay tax and saved a few bucks, but no one I know loves any other brand as much. Investment for life.

Normal price is £99.95 ($122) in the U.K. , double that for the noise cancelling version.
Note that they make two versions, one for Appple products and one for Samsung /Android I think they both work on each product but some of the functiality is lost if you buy the wrong version.

My use would also be only for flying (plane noise really seems to get to me lately - not people or crying babies so much but that background drone of the engines) and I'm looking for white noise/sound reduction, not listening to music or audio.
Been using basic foam ear plugs but they are a pain and really don't do the job.
Really appreciate all the suggestions and feedback.

Suze - you don't need any more love for the Bose, but I'm adding mine anyway. I have two pair actually as I'm afraid of losing or running the battery down and being left in a noisy world

I find them great for cutting down airplane noise and I often use them at home -- no music, no audiobooks, just to cut out the gardners, airplanes, etc. I had some Klipsch from my DH a few years ago, but didn't like the ear pieces as much.
Good customer service as well, though one of my mine has endured 2 years of daily use, up to 8 hours a day. I did have one go bad after about 6 months and they were replaced no questions asked even though I told them I though it was probably my fault.

DH has owned the over the ear noise canceling for probably 10 years. They've been repaired or replaced a couple times by Bose during that time at no charge. I don't like them because they are heavy and bulky but the sound and noise cancelling is excellent.
I hear people complain that Bose is overpriced and perhaps they are, but their customer service is excellent and they stand behind their products.
