RDIF Security Bags/Wallets

I have been reading up on electronic information from credit cards, information from tablets/laptops and passports being scanned by thieves. I am wondering if this has ever happened to anyone and if I should take precautions and purchase a shoulder bag that is RDIF so that this scanning cannot happen.

You mean RFID. It might be worth protecting your passport. It's not applicable to laptops and phones.

If you don't want to spend money, tin foil should do the job.

Yep. Tin foil works great as a Faraday cage. And it's practically free.

The Pacsafe brand of bags for both men and women contain a number of anti theft technologies including RFID protection.

If you find something you like, google it to find the cheapest price online. REI stores also carry a line of Pacsafe bags in their stores.

While this is a very small risk in reality, it is not hard to defend against. Foil as suggested will do the job. Just take a piece of ordinary kitchen foil and fold up a couple of layers to place inside the back of your wallet. That is enough to stop scanners.
