Please review our first YouTube Video of traveling adventure! :)

Hi everyone!,

We've uploaded a compilation of our 340 days of traveling around the world. It's obviously very long at almost 30mins but we uploaded as more of a convenience than anything for showing friends and family what we saw.

If you could provide any feedback at all it would be greatly appreciated We're looking forward to posting our next holidays highlights soon.

Cheers!

Back in the day, people bored their family and friends with albums or slideshows of their vacation snapshots. Usually, family and friends put up with it but internally wished they didn't have to.

Today, people can also attempt to bore total strangers with their vacation Youtube videos.

Did you join this forum for the intended purpose of any forum, of discussing travel? Asking and answering travel related questions? Or just to try and get 'hits' on your Youtube video?

Fortunately, not being family or friends, we strangers can easily choose to ignore your home movies.

You asked for feedback, I hope you appreciate it.

Sorry, lost it after 30 seconds. No context, too much zooming, little interest. To be blunt, boring.

I think that cameras make it too easy - the best travel stories contain words.

Read "A short walk in the Hindu Kush" by Eric Newby and you will know what I am getting at.

OK, I have taken a longer look. Lacking is any sort of narrative or story. Aircraft shot sequence of the Dolomites segues into Vietnam, then to a sunset shot on Santorini, panning to a couple of wine glasses.

Shots from bus windows, motorbikes, or from a dash-cam blasting down a road in a National Park do not make for interesting viewing.

It is like the dreaded selfie, footage only going to show that you attended a place.

Think about using stills rather than movies,

Consider spending your valuable time doing and SEEING things.

As for 'selfies' and travel, as far as I am concerned, that addiction definitely indicates a need to re-assess why you are travelling and what you should be doing with your time.
