Can anyone help me?My friend who is recently divorced may join me on a trip to SE Asia in a couple of weeks. When she got divorced she changed her name back to her maiden name. However, she hasn't gotten around to changing everything including her passport.
If she gets a ticket issued in her married name, which at this time would match her name on her passport, would she have anything to worry about going through security/immigration?
If there's any doubt, then she will try to quickly change her name on her passport, but time is short.
Thanks for any responses

As long as her ticket name and passport name match, then there should be no problem.
I agree, but I would bring a copy of the divorce decree showing the old name/new name change, especially if she is questioned about it from some other form of ID name.
rockland, here is the US State Dept website you or your friend should read to get the governments information regarding your friends situation..assuming your friend holds a US Passport.
The website is http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/correcting_2654html.
I posted this for you yesterday but for some reason my post is not here so I am reposting.
One thing to keep in mind. If your friend lost or has her passport stolen, even though she probably would have a photocopy of the passport with her IF the State Dept. wanted another ID (drivers license) or whatever and it is in a different name that could cause I problem I would think. Best wishes.
Thanks guys...we've decided to play it safe and get a new passport.Appreciate the help!
A new passport is what I would do also rockland. Hope you two have a wonderful trip!
