We're celebrating our 15 year anniversary this year and would like to take our 2 year old and 11 year old with us. We're considering an all-inclusive resort or cruise but don't want to fly more than 5 hours from San Francisco to get there. We'd like a place that has activities/child care for our 2 year old so we can get a break occasionally. We're looking at the Disney Cruise from Vancouver to Alaska. Any other suggestions?
Nice all-inclusive resort with 2 year old and 11 year old.

Oh, and my husband doesn't want Mexico.
"Oh, and my husband doesn't want Mexico."
w/ a 5 hour limit I think you are pretty much restricted to Mexico and a cruise.
I'd re-post on the Cruise forum.
BTW - I think any Alaska cruise would be great, not just Disney.
The desire for an AI resort within a 5 hour flight of SFO does limit choices, esspecially with the desire not to go to Mexico.
The Alaska cruise would be a phenomenal way to celebrate a 15th anniversary though. I would definitely keep that as a top possibility. I wouldn't choose Disney - just my personal preference - you and your kids might be very much into Disney and that may be a good fit. For me, I would think that the major branding and intense marketing that Disney is known for would take away from the destination itself - plus I never pass up an opportunity to get the kids away from the bombardment of mass marketting that most get on a daily basis
Have you considered Hawaii? Flights from SF to the various Hawaiian islands are about 5 hours, or so. I don't know about AI resorts there, but that is something to look into. We have a trip to the Big Island in the works for September - we haven't made any definite plans yet, but flights from San Jose to Kona are running about $325-350 pp - from SFO is similar. I have found lots of nice looking resorts in the Kona area - some are condo resorts, some are hotels.
Regarding Mexico, is your husband concerned about safety issues due to cartel violence? If that is the case, the Yucatan Peninsula is very safe, so no worries about that there, so you could consider that area. SFO-Cancun is a 5.5 hour flight and then there are tons of AI choices along the Mayan Riviera - not just Cancun, but Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and so on.
