Luggage suggestions (spinner bags?)
Hi--
My quandary...I am looking for some luggage. After having used a carry-on spinner wheel suitcase I am hooked. HOWEVER--both back wheels got worn down and were super cumbersome after only two trips. I took the back wheels off and now the front are following suit! I can't find replacement wheels that fit, and am wanting matching pieces anyhow (although this is not a requirement), so I am in the market.
I have no idea what to buy and I am a bit trigger shy based on my last experience. I have looked on here and other websites for brand suggestions with little success based on wanting spinner wheels. I was talking to a co-worker about the direction of the casing for the wheels making a difference? WHAT? Any information at all that can help in my search/decision making would be great. I travel via airports about 6 times a year and I also like to take day and weekend trips so I would like it to be multifunctional and airport appropriate. If it is unique or has a colorful option that would be an added perk. Thanks ahead of time!!!

There's a lot of good luggage info on the flyertalk forum. You might want to check there (the Travel Products forum).
Spinners are intriguing to me - I'm kind of in the market myself - but it seems like outside of an airport they could be problematic. Like in cities where you might have to walk for blocks over cobblestones. Or maybe in areas where there are dirt roads or just bad sidewalks in general. Maybe none of those kind of environments apply for your travels, though.
And also if you ended up having to check a spinner because of weight issues then it seems they would be more vulnerable to getting wheels broken on airport belts/carousel systems.
Hmmm...I think I'm talking myself out of a spinner. The heavy-duty rollerblade type wheels on a basic roll-aboard would probably be better for me.
But seriously, flyertalk has some true luggage addicts that have serious opinions they love to share.

I quite like the Samsonite Cosmolite line and have had no issues with durability. Their new Cubelite line looks pretty good too.
Tumi bags are good, too, and they offer some with 4 wheels.
In general, though, I would think one has to accept lesser durability from the 4-wheeled bags, as the design dictates smaller wheels that are more exposed to damage.

My wife loves her Samsonite spinner on sale for $79 on
TJ max 20 trips or so no wheel problems...
just buy one of those
Caution can get away from you and travel downhill on slopes
becoming a runaway bag... cobblestones no fun
except for that they are great I love the one fingered roll
on level airport surfaces...

Thanks everyone! I did checkout Flytalk...it got a little overwhelming but helpful! Overall, it seems like Samsonite has some good stuff, so I think I am going to check them out at TJ Maxx or Ross in my area. Thanks again!

I saw some Samsonite spinners at TJ Maxx and Marshall's recently -- waaaayyyyy cheaper than the same bags at the Samsonite outlet which I priced recently.
Tempting but I'm still not sold on the spinner idea.
But good luck with whatever you choose!
