Ladies, what do you pack in your carryon purse?
I enjoyed reading all the packing lists and comments.
Got me thinking maybe I should have a list for my big purse I carry on.
I usually take a smaller side bag with wallet and place in bigger bag when checking and boarding.
What is in your big purse?
fuzzy socks (put on during flight and use for slippers later)
extra undies in ziplock (old habit)
makeup in ziplocks (like to keep close)
book
small bible
mints/gum
nabs and granola bars
running shoes and socks
bandaids
Headache meds
magazine
extra pen
extra glasses
*Fodors book (depending on where I am going)

Besides money/credit cards and travel docs:
2 sets of disposable socks (when flying coach)
compression socks (only for flights over 4 hours)
chapstick
tiny hand cream/balm in a tin
tiny face mist to keep my skin hydrated
tiny bottle of eye drops(the air is dry)
a couple of cough drops (the air is dry)
tiny container with Aleve, benadryl, chewable Pepsid, sudafed
book to read
pen/pencil
tiny notepad to jot things down
solid perfume to hold up to my nose (if something in the cabin smells gross to me)
a 60" wool challis scarf (in case I get chilly)
snacks
gum
kleenex
a couple individually wrapped moist anti-bacterial towelettes
a Bodi Heat disposable heat pack (can help with sore back on long flights)
disposable poncho (the superlightweight $1 variety)
my inflatable travel pillow
my noise cancelling headphones
my "emergency kit" which is just a maglite solitare with a whistle connected to its key lanyard
Other than snacks and a book, everything else is always packed and ready to go in an Eagle Creek Pack-It Sac (large). I check all batteries before each trip. I call it my air-care bag.
Oh, and I have a smaller sac which always has my current glasses and two spare pairs of contacts. I never go anywhere without that.

I just put everything I might want in my daybag at my feet (usually a messenger bag) and then put my main bag in the overhead bin. If I'm going carryon only then I don't need to worry about having clothes for a day or two, battery chargers, etc because there's no risk of losing my bag.
I always wear a coat and/or cardigan on the flights. The coat goes between me and the window or over me as a blanket if I sleep
eReader
Journal and pencil
Pen
Wallet
sunglasses
Advil, rolaids, imodium, and Rx's
kleenex
pads/tampons if needed
Hand lotion
Munchies - peanut butter sandwich crackers, granola bars, fruit snacks.
Bottle of water (refilled after security)
Camera, extra battery and extra memory cards
iPod and headphones
Eye drops
Extra hair ties (ever notice that they always break when you only have one?)
Passport and anything needed for getting to my destination (flight info, hotel address, etc).
Chapstick
Gum

I carry things I want to have to use on the flight (magazine, book, lotion, snacks) and things too valuable to pack in my checked luggage (precription meds, prescription glasses and sunglasses, passport, money, charge card, ATM card).
If I'm arriving a warm/beach destination I also pack an outfit including bathing suit just in case my checked bag is delayed.
