LADIES: FAVORITE UNDER SEAT PERSONAL BAG AND WHAT TO PACK IN IT?
For our upcoming flight to Puerto Vallarta on June 11 (All inclusive 40th wedding anniv trip), and 30 day car trip later this fall (Business), I looked and looked and finally bought the American Tourister Pop 3 Piece Spinner Luggage Set in Aqua Blue on eBags for my luggage. I like the look of it and hope it will be really functional, too. For PV, I'm planning to use the 21" overhead carry on plus an under-seat personal carry on (I think Sun Country Airlines under seat limit is 16 x 11 x 8.) I still need to purchase the under seat bag and don't have much time!
Ladies, what kind of under seat bag do you like best (Brand? Website? Features?)
What do u pack in it?
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELPFUL INFO!

I often travel to Puerto Vallarta (from Seattle). It's my go-to happy-vacation place.
For my under-the-seat bag I use some kind of a canvas tote bag that will double as a beach bag upon arrival. I put my purse inside that.
I pack it very carefully but that is because I check my 2nd piece. So it's important to have all valuables and a change of clothes with me.
If you are taking both your pieces on board with you, and not checking anything thru, then that doesn't really matter what is packed in which bag.

If you have a bag in the overhead then you probably don't need much under the seat. Something little and without a frame/wheels would be my suggestion. You want it to be able to go under the seat out of the way and can put it on top of your roller if you don't want to carry it. Wheels and a frame create issues with that.
A simple tote bag, backpack or messenger bag with your purse, and any entertainment/munchies would be my suggestion. The bag could be used as a day bag on your trip. I usually have my Nook, purse/wallet, a travel journal, a couple granola bars, a bottle of water, some hard candy, lotion, eye drops, gum, my small camera, etc in a messenger bag. The messenger bag is my day bag so I'm not packing an extra bag just for the flights and that way I don't have to get up out of my seat to get something out of my bag.

I agree with the above - something smallish that you can put your handbag into plus stuff for the plane trip and a few essentials. The handbag I take is very small and folds up into nothing, but allows me to take a few things with me out to dinner or wherever without having to carry stuff in my pockets or take the large bag.
For a beach trip, I use a fabric bag that will double as a beach bag/day bag. Into this bag I put my documents, wallet, phone and other electronics, headphones, books, maps, meds, a few snacks, gum, toiletries, a change of clothes, and swimsuit. Even if I plan to carry on my other piece of luggage as well, I put whatever the change of clothes, meds, etc. in the under-seat bag in case the overheads get full and I have to gate check the other luggage.

My go-to "personal item" bag that goes under my seat is a leather diaper bag I bought at Coach a million years ago. The inside is waterproof, so if something spills (like a water bottle) it isn't a problem. There are also lots of little pockets, which are great for organizing. I always carry a bag with my makeup, the bag o'liquids (I never check my luggage), travel documents (copies of reservations, etc.), bag with meds and OTC (lots of Immodium), packets of Emergen-C, baggies of nuts, bag with the stuff that is usually in my purse, reading material, iPad or Kindle, socks (so I can take off my shoes in-flight), a pashmina (to use as a blanket), spare undies (just in case they make me check my wheelie bag - sort of insurance), inflatable neck pillow, eye shades and ear plugs (lately I have been flying overnight), travel wallet/passport (zipped in the inside pocket) and 2 bottles of water (in the outer pockets that are usually used for baby bottles).
When I am going to the beach, I have a fabric bag that folds flat that lays in the bottom of my wheelie, along with the cross-body purse that I use once I get to my destination.
I leave for Italy in 30 days, so I am now going to pull out my wheelie and start packing!

I just read a great article about what to pack in your "personal item" on the plane. It has lots of really good tips. The website also has a good article on packing a carry-on for carry-on only travel. http://www.anniestravelnuggets.com/2...rseas.html?m=1
