Irish Pubs and other Fun Things
Hey there, Well my husband and I have made our arrangements to travel to Ireland in September 2017. We have made arrangements to spend the first week in a cottage in county Louth to drive the northeast side of Ireland and the next week we have a cottage in County Sligo to tour the northwest side. What I'm hoping you can help with is finding Irish pubs that play traditional Irish Pub music in each of these general areas. I have found a ton of things to do and sites to see. The challenge is how to prioritize them in the two weeks we have. We are both over 70 years young and with our hiking boots and walking sticks we are game for almost anything. We have made arrangements for a rental car that in Dublin upon our arrival. Cannot tell you how excited we are. The last time we were in Ireland was 21 years ago and at that time we did the south end of the island from Shannon to Dublin. We feel like a couple of kids waiting for Christmas!!!! Thanks for any suggestions you share..........

Thanks janisj,I did see the responses in March while in the early stages of thinking about our trip. I appreciate you suggestion of re-posting this on the Europe Forum. I'm still learning about this process. This trip has provided me with my first opportunity.

also look for any post from GreenDragon
If you go to Northern Ireland forum on Trip advisor there are some very good people that live there that will help you with any advice also. I didn't see your post under Europe so will try to find Green Dragon's reports.

Keep searching on Google for event listings in your locales under "trad music". Some websites update more frequently than others.
While we LOVE the West Coast for trad, we were pleasantly surprised on our fourth trip to Ireland to have struck gold with a week's stay in Dublin.
Here is our trip report from 2013:

I'm green (pun intended) with envy for your Sept trip.
