Hi everyone. I am looking for some good suggestions. My fiance and I are having a hard time coming up with where we want to go on our honeymoon. Everyone we talk to sends us to the Caribbean, which we would have no problem with if we weren't already getting married in 90 degree weather. We live in the south and are getting married in mid-July so we would like to go to a place that is cooler. We aren't huge beach people, but could stand a beach place if there was other stuff to do. I'm a history person, and he likes sports but we don't necessarily need that. We are just looking for a place where we have stuff to do when we want stuff to do, but don't have to make a ton of decisions like what bus to take, or choose a restaurant from thousands in the city. He would love to go to Vancouver, I would like Alaska but we only have a week. I know this is a lot, but any suggestions and past experiences that i could get would be great!
I have absolutely no clue where to go on my honeymoon.

Consider Seattle. Mild temps, Mount Ranier, a short drive to Vancouver or a short hydrofoil jaunt to Victoria Island. Snoqualame Falls, the Olympic Peninsula. It's a great place with wonderful food, wine and hotels.
San Francisco is unpredictable weather, but probably cooler than the SE. The Bay has incredibly romantic vistas, great hotels and incredible food. Day trips to Muir Woods, Napa Valley, or an overnight to Carmel/Monterey are great options.
San Diego is mild year round. La Jolla or Coronado are great beachfront options. The Zoo is a landmark destination. Nearby casinos, Sea World, or a short jaunt up to Newport Beach with world class shopping are possible day trips.

I'd also highly recommend Montreal or Quebec City. Quebec City is one of the oldest, and the only fortified walled city north of Mexico. You'd find a nice mix of B&Bs and small hotels, plus the grand Chateau Frontenac for a splurge. It will feel very French - with all the pluses that culture offers (e.g., food, arts, style).
Montreal has a mix of old and new - it's very artsy and there are tons of festivals. (That can be good and bad, depending on the timing of your trip - could affect prices and availability.) It's great for shopping, culture, nightlife, and dining. There is green stuff nearby - either the lovely Mont Royal in the city or a little further afield in the countryside.
Both would be an easy one week trip from the US (Montreal perhaps a little easier).

Split the time between Seattle and Vancouver. Fly to Seattle, see a Mariners game if they are in town. Amtrak train (or bus) to Vancouver. Both cities are rather hilly but quite walkable.
If you are really looking for history and a baseball team, try Boston.
Great ideas so far - I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. And I understand not wanting to go to the Carribbean. I am on the west coast, so Hawaii is the "go-to honeymoon destination" and we didn't want to do that either.
You could see SF and the Monterey area or something along those lines.
Since you've only got a week though, I don't think I'd go to Europe unless you could get a direct flight to Paris or someplace and then just spent the whole week in that city.
Have you considered an Alaskan cruise? Maybe start in Vancouver and end up in Alaska.
SF is a great choice too - and it WILL be cooler than the SE - no maybes about it

I think you could have a sweet time in Reykjavik Iceland. Stay downtown and you can walk almost everywhere and take an excursion or two if you like. It's like Europe but several hours closer and everyone speaks English. The excursions are fantastic, and if you're inclined riding the Icelandic ponies is a wonderful life experience even if you are an experienced western or english rider. And a day at the Blue Lagoon would be a cool honeymoon activity. You want amazing stories and memories from your honeymoon and you get them in Iceland.
I will say that Quebec City is a terrific suggestion. Stay at the Frontenac (it's your honeymoon!) and meander the charming Old City. Again, like Europe but hours closer and everyone speaks English.
(I only mention English because you don't want challenges on your honeymoon).
How about a one-week Alaskan cruise that sails out of Seattle?

We went to Canada for our June honeymoon. We flew into Calgary, rented a car and drove to Banff - beautiful, beautiful - and then drove to Vancouver Island and stayed in Victoria. Lovely places.

I am in the same boat as annamarie. Wedding is in September though. We live in the south (US) and do not want to go to the beach. Wedding is outside of DC so we have access to Europe fairly easily, but flying back would add a few hours on the return. Only have a week or maybe week and a half. We love Paris and are thinking of returning there, perhaps going to Burgundy as well. Other thoughts are Velden, Austria paired with Bled, Slovenia, or Canada- Banff. Worried might be too late in summer for Banff? A little caught up in all the hype that "honeymoon", like a wedding, has to be "perfect". Really just want to find somewhere to relax, nice hotel, good views, outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, sightseeing). We loved our Bavaria trip and thus Austria/ Switzerland seemed appealing. Re-opening this to suggestions all of us in this boat can use.
