Help planning long road trip.
My husband and I are planning a road trip extravaganza for summer 2017.
First a little about us. We are in our mid 60's and in good health. We are both hobby photographers, like the outdoors, hikes 2-3 miles roundtrip. We like to travel the backroads when there is something interesting to see and it doesn't extend our time too much. Would like to keep our days to 6 hours or less in the car if possible. We are both retired and timing is flexible.
I am thinking to begin time our journey to make the most of the Canadian Rockies. We will be starting from Nashville Tn and would like to hit the Rockies by around the 6th, 7th of August 2017, spending 10 or so days in the Jasper/Banff area, then on to visit friends in Seattle, on to Oregon, down the coast to California Redwoods. From there I am undecided as to a route back to Nashville. Our trip is only limited to our wallets, as we have all the time we want to complete this journey. At this point I am trying to get a handle on the time frame and a general route. I will be posting in the individual forums for help when I get a little farther along.
We did a 42 day road trip in 2012 which included Custer, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Colorado Rockies, Santa Fe and back across I40 and old rte 66 to Kentucky where we were then living. In 2010 we did Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands, Arches, Grand Canyon, and Sedona, so I would prefer to hit new places if possible.
I would love to have any feedback on possible routes and time frames from any of you.

I posted a response to your companion thread on TA - https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...oad_Trips.html

I have now posted in Canada and US boards. Gardyloo, I just read your reply on TA. Thanks, I will take a look at some of those suggestions. I am particularly looking at the route back from California to Nashville, as that is the most unclear for me at this time.

>>Is there a way to post in each state I am thinking of visiting?<<
You did -- well four states anyway which is the site's limit for tags.
>>I will be posting in the individual forums for help when I get a little farther along.<<
If by individual forums you mean States or Provinces -- there aren't any. Just 'Canada' and 'USA' w/ tags for specific states.
I <i>think</i> the problem may be that your post is just a bit confusing w/ a lot of extra info thrown in and it isn't clear exactly what you are asking. (This is not a criticism - it is sometimes hard to post what is easy to explain face to face)
To me it looks like your main question is which route to take from California back to Tenn. But that is buried in the middle of a paragraph. Maybe top that thread w/ your specific questions . . . or -- start over.
good luck.
