We were hoping for a good itinerary from Memphis to Corsica with reasonable layovers and were wondering how others make their way there. What we have found has us either changing airports in Paris or else 10+ hour layovers. It has been suggested on the Europe forum [ thank you, StCirq ] to look at Air Corsica from Nice and that may be the best option. [not unlike flying to SXM on a major carrier then having a second reservation on Winair to get to SBH?]
How do other Americans make their way to Corsica? Overnight ferry? Long layovers?
Thank you for input!
Have you been to Corsica?

Happy Hunting,
Been to Corsica several times. Ferries each time, from Livorno, Nice and Toulon on Corsica Ferries. Also from Civitavecchia but I think that line has been cancelled. Moby also has ferries from Livorno and Toulon, I believe. For the Livorno ferry, I flew into Pisa, took the train to Livorno, had an overnight cabin on the ferry which departed very early the next morning cabin less expensive than a hotel room and I didn't have to get up early and make my way to the port for departure. The Toulon crossing is overnight. Nice is about 5 hours and Livorno is about 4 hours.
I am no expert, but have been twice, most recently in may. Because I am cheap I spent a lot of time researching possibilities. Avoiding CDG is always a goal for me if possible.
This year we flew into and out of nice b/c i got a great fare. From there we flew air corsica/ccm into figari airport (bonifacio) and ended up in calvi from where we flew back to nice.
Air Corsica/ccm is part of air france.
A lot of discount airlines also fly into corsica, such as easyjet. check www.flylowcostairlines.org. i am fairly certain that most of them only fly during the high season---not sure when you're going. easyjet flies from london, paris, geneva and lyon to corsica.
Also considered flying into pisa and taking ferry from livorno to bastia 3-4 hours.
We went through paris last time on the way back (orly) and spent a few days.
Considered the ferries from the south of france but it's a pretty long trip when compared to a 45 minute flight
