French gastronomy
Hello, I came back from a trip to Paris recently and it was really awesome. I went to amazing places, met nice people and on top of all I fell in love with the French gastronomy. I didn’t have the opportunity to taste all their specialties but I really loved the cassoulet, the blanquette de veau and the pot-au-feu. And you, what’s your opinion about French cuisine?

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip and found some good food. On our trip in March, we were very disappointed with the food. Having lived in Paris for three years and having made many subsequent trips there, I had some basis for comparision. Right on our return there was an article in the NYT about the decline of French food, and there have been others since. But, I'm glad you stumbled on some tasty meals.

I'm a huge fan of french gastronomy and like you, I discovered its richness through a trip. Even now I still order some dishes from a website called Delices d'Annie. In which places did you enjoy having lunch or dinner?

Sounds great, I havent't been at "La Grande Cascade" yet. Have to pay them a visit when I come back to France. Delices d'Annie is where I'm used to ordering some typical belgian/french dishes. Frankly, their meals are really good

@lizzie - come off it. According to your profile you live in London and your favorite destination is Paris, plus you recommend going to Versailles. How could you not have gone to a French restaurant? Looks like you're a shill for that website.

I just love it. I went to the south of France recently with friends and we had a great time and the food was divine – I particularly like the range of cheeses, the fresh bread, and the pates and deli items. Check out this collection of recipes for some inspiration and to make at home! http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/french

@thursdaysd-That's maybe strange according to what I wrote on my profile but it's true I've never been in Paris but I'd really love to. All I know about Paris is what I see on the internet and what I hear from my friends who have been there. Even if I've never travelled there, this is one of my favourite place where I dream to visit someday, that's why I put it on my profile.

A favorite place is somewhere you have been, usually more than once, and loved. You might go to Paris and hate it. And how come you were advising other travelers to go to Versailles if you have never been? Advice here is supposed to be based on actual experience, not fantasies.
Do you even live in London? And if so, given the ease of taking the train there, and your professed love of Paris, how come you have not been?

"but it's true I've never been in Paris" - How odd! this is what lizziebbridge wrote on this thread -

"Hi there,
I lived in Paris few years ago and i know that there is a real problem but yout right they appear to be doing nothing at all to stop it.
check out how this can be dangerous for tourists on the boats passing below (sorry it is in french)"

Oh my, I've just discovered that someone played a dirty trick on me using my account and posted some comments in my place. You have all the right to be mad at me but I'd really like to apologize for all this.

It's kinda embarrassing but truth is my ex is the only one who knows my account. We just broke up not so long ago and I forgot to change my password, I mean I would never thought he would do such thing to me. I guess it was my mistake. Anyway I'm really sorry and sorry Katrina to have spoiled your thread
